Long Island MMA’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program or Long Island BJJ is one of the strongest programs we have here at Long Island MMA, and it’s only getting stronger.
Recently Long Island MMA has a bunch of new promotions. Congratulations to the following people.
Congratulations to Steve Rothman for getting his Blue Belt from Long Island MMA’s Gregg DePasquale. Steve has been working really hard and has been improving a lot. Steve also recently won a BJJ tournament right before he got his promotion. Steve has a lot of passion for BJJ and a lot of love for the sport. Steve is the president of the Birmingham Universities BJJ club.
Also congratulations to Long Island MMA’s Mia from the LIMMA kid classes for getting her white-grey belt! Mia and her brother have been doing jiu-jitsu at Long Island MMA for 2 years and are always putting in a tremendous effort. Mia has developed a very well rounded BJJ game, her game is very advanced for her young age.
Also congratulations to Sophia for earning her BJJ white-grey belt from the Long Island MMA kids program. Sophia also has a super well rounded BJJ game and Sophia has become a leader amongst her peers. Sophia has a nasty mount and we are excited to see her improve.
Congratulations to Chris Wade for his IMPRESSIVE 1st round submission victory. This victory secures his spot in the 2018 lightweight playoffs.
Wade came out with a tremendous flying kick and wrapped around his opponents neck like an anaconda. Many of you who have trained with Wade know exactly what it feels like to have him around your neck and its not fun!
Long Island MMA’s Chris Wade will move on to the first ever lightweight play offs in PFL history. Wade is still in the running to possibly win one million dollars.
Congratulations Chris, we look forward toward your next bout!
Congratulations to Long Island MMA’s Frank Sforza AKA Frank “The White Belt” for getting promoted to the rank of Brown belt from Gregg DePasquale. Frank is one of the longest LIMMA members and one of the toughest competitors at LIMMA. Frank won the Pan Ams when he was a purple belt, and is featured on Long Island MMA’s “Wall of Champions” more then anyone else! Congratulations Frank everyone who has ever trained with you knows its well earned!
Another HUGE congratulations goes out to John Gillespie. John just got promoted to the rank of Purple belt from Gregg DePasqaule during our Monday night Brazilian jiu-jitsu class! John has improved leaps and bounds over the last few months, John has a very unique BJJ style and plays to his body type really well, but at the same time John is hungry to learn and perfect all techniques. Well earned John!
